“We entered her care around 27 weeks pregnant, but have been talking since before I was even pregnant! We had the pleasure of working together previously and she knew my desire for a home birth and answered all my questions and would always put my mind at ease. I ultimately made the switch due to my subpar experience with a traditional physician and ob practice. Their lack of individualize care and my desire for a home birth lead me to Kate. From there she walked us through every appointment, blood work and beat of Wyatt’s heart.
And when I got covid at 36 weeks then developed Cholestatis she literally held my hand through it. And when my option for a home birth was gone she was at the hospital for it all; even though she couldn’t ‘catch’ Wyatt that didn’t stop her from coaching me though my entire labor, rubbing my back, squeezing my hips, making me drink electrolytes and taking care of Tim too. Only after being at the hospital w us for 17 hours and a healthy baby boy in our arms did she leave our side, and even then she was always a phone call/text away.
The beauty of home birth midwives they come to you! Once you’re finally home w your newborn the last thing you want to do it leave your comfy home. Today we celebrated my 6 week and final postpartum appointment and it was wonderful. To come full circle and have this journey come to an end is bittersweet.
