Welcome Midwife Michelle!

We are so very excited to announce that Central Texas Midwifery is growing!

Please join Kate in welcoming Midwife Michelle Gold to the team. Kate and Michelle have known each other and worked together for years. The addition of Michelle to the team will help Central Texas Midwifery to continue to provide high-quality individualized and family-centered care in your home.

Michelle got into birth work in 2010 after a very empowering out of hospital and unmedicated birth experience followed by a humbling new parenting journey. She got her doula certification in 2010 through DONA and immediately started attending births as an independent doula and then with a busy doula collective in Austin. In 2011, she was hired as a Birth Assistant at one of the busiest birth centers in Texas, Austin Area Birthing Center. During her time at Austin Area Birthing Center, she worked as a Birth Assistant, Centering Pregnancy Co-facilitator and Coordinator; she also the taught Breastfeeding and Newborn Care classes.

In 2016, she finally could no longer deny the calling of becoming a midwife and she began her education with the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program and her apprenticeship with AABC. She graduated from ATMMTP in April 2019, became licensed and accepted a staff midwife position with AABC, jumping right into the busy practice by catching 9 babies in her first month of orientation! Since then, she has navigated being a new midwife during a pandemic, worked with many families and staff changes at AABC and took over the CPM Student Coordinator role in helping student midwives navigate their student journey and helping the knowledge and skills of midwifery be preserved.

Now, she is ready for a slower way of practicing midwifery and eager to get to know her clients in a deeper and more connected way by doing homebirth with Kate and Central Texas Midwifery. She hopes to support, guide, and witness the clients bloom and grow as families.

In her spare time, Michelle likes to spend time with her family – husband Chris, daughters Laurel and Matilda. As a family, they like to hike, camp, and climb. Michelle is also really into trail running. Well, more like trail jogging. Okay, more like sometimes hiking and sometimes trail jogging. Her favorite evening activity is watching funny movies with her family and being in bed by 9pm.

Michelle grew up in the Hill Country with lots of hot summers and sunshine so places that are cool and rainy seem like places out of a fairy tale. Her dream vacation would be to places like Scotland or Aotearoa (New Zealand). Her favorite place in Texas is Balmorhea and the Davis Mountains of west Texas, but the Hill Country will always be her home.
